A stag. -- This legend and type, with variations, frequently appears on coins of Gallienus, whose father Valerianus was ingularly attached to the worship of Diana the Preserver, insomuch that he dedicated a temple to her honor at Rome, called Aedes Valeranae.
A similar epigraph DIANA CONS. -- with the same symbol of the goddess of the chase, appears on the the small bronze of Carausius, who also professed greatly to honor the sylvan deity.
